Subject:  Determination of the arrival direction of the ultrasonic signal using the indirect phase detection method

The previously developed method of determining the azimuth angle of the arrival direction of the ultrasonic signal allowed the implementation of the sonar construction for the 2D case (estimation of distance and azimuth angle). This method has been extended to the 3D case (distance estimation, azimuth and elevation angles). Discussion of this extension will be the basic content of the presentation. As an introduction, examples of other solutions of this type will be presented. In the final part of the presentation will be discussed the problem of echo interference and the impact of this phenomenon on the results of measurements. To illustrate these effects, results of simulations and real sonar experiments will be presented.
