Windows locale problem and workaround ===================================== 2021-03-11 Witold Paluszynski Some people experience problems running the Checkers program on a Windows computer running in the locale other than English/Polish/Spanish/Russian. The Java Virtual Machine is trying to locate the localization file for the program and fails. It is possible to temporarily change the locale of the Windows system to English (United States) to run the Checkers program. Here is the required steps for Windows 10: 1. Start > Settings(gearwheel) > Time and Language > Language > Add a preferred language 2. Find English (United States) in a window that appears, click Continue. 3. Click Set as my display language, then click Install 4. Log out and then back in. 5. The Checkers program should start at that point. If you notice any problems in running the program, or with any translations, then let me know. 6. To return to the original locale use the same list as at step 2.
